It fulfilled its purpose.
If you buy a concert ticket and use it to see the show, it's not that the ticket becomes bad, but it's been used. It has fulfilled its purpose. You may keep it in your scrapbook to remember the event, but you can't expect to use it again. It wasn't meant to be reusable.
In a similar way, the Old Testament had a specific purpose. It was meant to bring us to Christ. When Christ fulfilled the old law and prophecies, it was used up. It fulfilled its purpose.
Yes, there are things we can learn about God and about people from the Old Testament, but it's not the law Christians are under. The book of Hebrews is a good explanation of this.
One day the New Testament will have fulfilled its purpose as well. That day being the day of Judgment.

its not invalid, the church doesnt want to talk about the old testament during the mass. Have you ever read the old testament? compare it to the new testament and theres a really big difference between the two. The old testament is too brutal. Someone answered your question that the old testament is fiction. In that case, how will anyone know about these things anyway? Theres still no time machine invention yet, right? People in the past may re-write the book and change some things. I dont think the Bible is telling the truth about what happened before. Its only a book, and a book can be rewritten.

The Old Testament of the Bible is still as valid as ever.
The laws and statutes of the Old Testament have been fulfilled and set aside by Jesus. They have been replaced with a new and better covenant in his blood.
The new testament is where you will find the story of that fulfillment and much, not all, of the related information that can help you understand how to live it.
The reality of the new testament is hidden in the types and prophecies of the old.
Both are necessary for complete understanding, but the laws and precepts outlined in the new testament, and adopted by the authority of God's new covenant church, are the only ones that are binding today.

The old testomony continues to be valid and perfect. the clarification why Christians say that some factors of the OT are invalid is using the fact there are some issues that Jesus replaced approximately worship while He arrived in the worldwide. case in point He mentioned that even although God had advised Moses to allow human beings to break up, it is probably not allowed anymore using fact God hates divorce (Matthew 19). Jesus additionally declared all nutrition sparkling (Matthew 15 and Acts 10) and while he died on the go animal sacrifices have been now not required using fact He had paid for our sins as quickly as and for all. Atheists study the old testomony out of context and oftentimes constantly omit God's purpose for having issues finished the way He had them finished, which i anticipate they do to bash Christianity and/or justify their unbelief. while you're definitely finding for the certainty i propose you to look up apologetics on the internet or purchase the e book. you will locate each and all of the solutions you won't be in a position to get from Christians in this internet site - this is if your seek is real. The Hebrew Bible aka the Old Testament is forever and unchanging. There's nothing "old" about it.
The Bible says over and over again that it is the word of God, and is eternal and unchanging. The commandments are unchanging, 7 of them for all mankind (Jew and Gentile); and 613 specifically for Jews.
Deuteronomy 4:2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your G-d which I command you.
Deuteronomy 5:29 O that there were such a heart in them, that they would fear Me, and keep all My commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!
Deuteronomy 12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
"For from Zion will the Torah come forth, and the word of HASHEM from Jerusalem." (Isaiah 2:2)
Leviticus 19:37 Therefore shall ye observe all My statutes, and all My judgments, and do them: I am the Lord.
Etc. ..

We are in the new now.
You have to move out of your old house to move into your new house.
The inauguration of the new was done By Jesus sacrifice.
Inaugurated in His Blood 2000 years ago.
How come the preachers never told you that?
CASH, HUH.
Sort of gives you a clue where they are doesn't it.
If you however want to be under the law and refuse the Gift of God, you go right ahead. You can do as you please.
You are also free to pay the price also.
I'd rather have someone else pay for me. Jesus Paid!!! OLAY!

Who abondons the OT? Jesus came and "modified" some laws. Read the sermon on the mount. He came to show you that it is not only a sin to DO something but to even THINK about doing something is a sin. I constantly refer and look at the 10 Commandments. That's in the OT. You can't understand parts of the NT without the OT. Paul wrote a lot of references to the OT. The OT should not be ignored.
