Because this Congress and this administration don't see fit to put the issue to a vote and address the problem in a lasting fashion. 'Congress knows best' has been our immigration policy for years, but unfortunately they don't really quite seem to know best. What'd be really cool is if they did an expose on just how screwed-up Mexico really is, put THAT on the news, so people can get a good 'feel' for what's really going on here.
We already kind of know the score, Mexico's got serious problems, they're still arguing out their future, but a positive sign I guess is that they ARE talking about it. Nonetheless, effective enforcement means having thousands more border patrol,
and the military backing them if needed, and they said that they're training more people for the border patrol. I guess it's not one of those 'snap your fingers, and it's done' kind of problems, but at the same time there needs to be more tangible progress
and some co-operation, meaning 'working together toward a common goal' from Mexico, because what we keep reading says that they're actively aiding and promoting the illegal immigration process. That's a no-brainer, because illegal immigration into the US is a huge moneymaker for em. It's still a shitty tactic, though, and eventually it'll be an issue of whether they're ever really going to reform, and how long we want to keep feeding the problem, instead of solving it.
When I say 'money', I mean on the scale that we'll never see in our lifetimes, tens of billions annually. Human trafficking, drug trafficking, god only knows what else, it's become a thriving form of commerce for Mexico, and they'll likely only stop it when they physically cannot enter our country anymore. It's sad, but it's also the typical tale of your average 3rd world country. It's kind of like working by smacking yourself in the face with a hammer but being well-paid for it, self-destructive yet lucrative, but the whole mess will continue until and unless the mexican people at large, as well as the american public, simply decide the 'fun' is over...
Good article on Mother Jones about it...

If it weren't for the congress that stupid Senate amnesty bill would have already passed, it is the Republicans in congress that are stoping it, thank G-D for them, it is President Bush that wants the Senate bill passed, Most Americans are with the congress, but now they are to busy taking their vacations to care. They have no political will or balls to do what is needed for this country. They are afraid of marching illegal aliens and the Mexicans activists groups, where in the hell are the black and white activists groups on this matter, most of the jobs being taken are from blacks, where are their leaders to protest against the activists.

It continues because the politicians are too afraid of minority voters and losing campaign contributions from corporations who depend on illegals to keep costs down.
We don't 'need' the illegals for the workforce, that's BS. Let the market dicate the natural cost of things instead of letting cheap labor do it.
Deport every illegal, if your first act in the U.S. is to break the law then get the hell out.

The gov turns a blind eye.. people don't vote and no one is holding the employers responsible for hire them illegally!. if an employer got a three strikes system that would put them OUT of business and take ALL of their assets?.. it would stop..perhaps we should just invade and take over Mexico as part of the US..I think allot of them would rather stay there is their gov wasn't so corrupt and there were jobs there.Think about it.. would you rather sneak into Russia and work for cheap or stay home and work for whatever?

Take a sec and think. How much money would it take to do that? Hmmmmmm.
You need money to hire a ton of agents to look for them and arrest them. (A couple million people hiding, we can't even catch all the American criminals)
You need to build hundreds of new jails to hold them while you are getting the planes to send them back. It takes a couple months to do that now.
You need to pay people to organize their paperwork so their countries will take them back. You also need to organize the flights to their countries.
You need manpower and money to build a wall so high you cant climb over it, so deep, you cant dig under it, so thick you can't tunnel through it and so long you cant go around it.
That would be the biggest construction project in this century. And very expensive at union wages.
Sounds like you need some illegal labor.......
People, please, get it through your thick skulls, the president and congresspeople are doing nothing because....
WE DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH MONEY TO DEPORT THEM!!!

As others said they are too worried about staying or getting into office. The two main partys, Demarcates and Republicans must fight over all the main topics going on and therefore cannot agree on anything.

Because the rich business interests who really run things in this country make lots of money by employing cheap illegal labor who can't even complain about bad labor practices.

Because illegal immigrants, the poor and minorities are to stupid to realize that Democrats play off their problems and used their "races" to push their agenda. Wake up already people.
You are slaves and pieces of crap to the Democrats who dont give a crap about you. Thats why nothing is being done that much, you'd be cutting off votes to the Democratic Party !!!

Politics, there are alot of minority votes at stake. I don't think it has anything with them doing jobs Americans won't do. It's all about the votes.
