Sherwin Williams Duration satin washes of better than most others of the same gloss level because it does not allow the staining agents to penetrate the surface of the paint.

Latex, the best you can afford. Walmart paint is as good as the paint stores but cost less. Just buy the better quality, they tint at no charge. Lowe's, Home Depot, same story. Latex cleans up with water. Oil paints need thinner or mineral spirits. You can get gloss, semi gloss, or flat. If your walls are less than perfect, semi gloss hides flaws better than gloss. Trim work looks brighter w/ a gloss finish.

I am a paint slut :>) I have used it all. I have to say I am very happy w/Wal Mart paint and if you don't like it they take it back. I have paid up to $38.00 for a gallon of Devine paint and it wasn't any better, in fact it had a really strong and not pleasant odor...

depends on where your painting.
flat or matte is hard to wash
bathroom or kitchen- want a kitchen and bath paint
satin is probably the best- gives some shine and is easy to clean
also use a latex paint
