I didn't know that they did!
Our church has a food pantry for the poor

we have also done the following:
1. paid utility bills so people can have heat in the winter
2. paid mortgages and rent for people so they wouldn't lose their home or become homeless
3. distributed blankets, gloves and hats to the homeless living on the streets of Chicago during the winter
4. collected school supplies for poor children

These are just a few that come to mind.
Doesn't sound like EXPLOITATION to me!!!

During hurricaine Katrina, it was the churches that were there helping the people before any government agencies arrived!
Our church collected 3 giant semi-trailers full of food, clothing, ect and drove down there from Chicago to deliver the supplies.

I see Church's helping the poor.

Last year, in New Orleans ... it was the Churches who stepped up and helped. They were in the center of chaos, and they were giving food and shelter. They are still working today, bringing God's word and assistance to the poor in New Orleans. While poloticians were screaming at each other, all types of Churches opened their doors, and gave help to the needy; FEMA didn't help quite as much as the Church's.

I see the Jesuits being the largest educators in Third World Countries like the Phillipeans, Vietnam, and Africa. " The Society is characterized by its ministries in the fields of missionary work, human rights, social justice and, most notably, higher education. It operates colleges and universities in various countries around the world and is particularly active in the Philippines and India." <1> Men from Vietnam risking their lives to educate themselves to be Priest in the Phillipeans, and then bringing religion to the communist nation of Vietnam; now that's men facing persecution extreem.
