There is no "better". You have to decide for yourself, considering that both of these agencies have distinctly different missions. Ask yourself why you are interested in either one, and why the other federal law enforcement agencies don't interest you.

Check with local colleges that offer criminal justice programs, and see if they're hosting a career day for law enforcement careers (my community college did). Often you can find out directly from working agents what a typical day is like, the payscale, benefits, requirements, etc.

From what I remember, and this is going back at least six years, the agencies were pretty much comparable in pay, benefits, and requirements, but with slight differences.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Sorry, Don, but FBI is not a "real" law enforcement agency. The real ones are your state and local officers. ATF is a good agency - don't work for them, but have known many who have. DEA and ICE are also good - it just depends on what kind of excitement you are looking for. For the most part, the pay is the same.

Not a law enforcement agency by charter. Over steps it's bounds. Try joining a real law enforcement agency, like FBI.
You would be less likely to be shot for trespassing, like in Waco, or NY.
