learn any fighting style that interest you. (or all...) here are some I'm familiar with...
Krav Maga
Muay Thai
Brazilian Jujitsu
Boxing
Wrestling
the main key to being an good fighter is aggression, speed, and power. aggression is a mental thing that you have to be in control of. the speed is with hours of training. and power also comes with training obviously. but the best offense is always a good defense. and a well rounded fighter will definitely have the upper hand in a fight. Krav Maga is mostly self-defense and kind of touches on many other forms of fighting. very applicable to real world situations. Muay Thai is focused on striking with the legs. Brazilian Jujitsu is mostly ground fighting along with wrestling. and boxing is pretty self explanatory. boxing is good to be familiar with for many reasons one mainly being that you will be able to take a punch.

Most traditional martial arts are taught as a defense. You are looking more for a combat style? Your best bet would be to look into an american style, from what I've heard, some of them have a different focus than the traditional.

There is no offensive martial art, Krav Maga is one of the more vicious disciplines so you might want to try that. and most of the traditional martial arts are for defense only and are essentially for combat just as Krav Maga is while Judo Jiujisu, Hapkido, and Aikido are often ground fighting arts. you should remember that a good offense is a good defense.

All martial arts are taught to be used primarily for defense, but they are made up of offensive (strikes, kicks, weapons) and defensive (blocks, movement) techniques. How YOU use them makes your individual interpretation of the style more offensive or more defensive. It's how YOU use it, not the art that is more offensive (agressive) or defensive.

Muay Thai is a great offensive art. And it does not focus only on "striking with the legs". Yeesh. Muay Thai is also known as the "Science of Eight Limbs", meaning the feet, knees, elbows and hands. Traditional MT alson includes headbutts, throws, and there are Thai weapons arts as well.

Look at any Pride fight champion, UFC champion or K-1, MMAs winningest style is the combination of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu/Muay Thai kick boxing. Your butt will be owned by anyone who trains in MMA Brazilian Jiujitsu/MuayThai.
