My daughter's team has an annual tradition of a pasta party hosted at one of the team captain's houses. The other two captains this year have small homes that are not big enough for all the parents and players. I would like to have the party but I also have a no shoes in the house rule. How do I host the party but still get everyone to take off their shoes. This would be the first team event at a no shoes house.

I would just ask people to take off their shoes when they get their. There are probabbly some kids on the team that have had to take their shoes off in your house before. Just kind of let everyone know that it will be a stocking feet party. I have been to a lot of parties like this and we have actually made it a rule that no matter where it is parents and teammates will enter the house in socks as to keep our hosts homes clean. Maybe you could start the tradition of shedding shoes at the door.

Not wearing your shoes in someone elses house is a manor that most people shoule have and be aware of just place a rug at the door and maybe place some of your own shoes on it so that when they do walk in the door that is the first thing they notice. Also, if you do not have shoes on more than likely they will follow you and take theirs off as well.

Sure, tell their moms in advance that there is a no shoes rule at your house, kids are adaptable, especially if they know the reward is a great meal. The adults will go along with it ,too. I f your finances allow, buy some of those footie socks things, you can find packs of the cheapie ones for not a lot of money. LOL, Martha Stewart keeps a basket of them beside her door, but she has the expensive kind, of course. Or find a cute way to ask them to bring household shoes, like slippers or the footies. That way no mom will be embarrassed by finding out later her kid wore a pair of socks with holes in them, or be embarrassed herself.

Definitely host the party, it will be fun. Make a small sign that says "Please Remove Shoes." and everyone should respect your wishes. To make it more fun, buy silly or funny socks for each team member to wear during the party and as a gift to take home.

Go to a medical supply store and buy a couple boxes of shoe covers for people to wear over their shoes or relax your no shoes rule for one night. In my opinion asking people to take their shoes off is rude. It's like you care more about your carpet than you do their friendship.

I would put a sign on the door to please take off your shoes, they should all have enough respect to do that. I'm sure they will understand, besides your being nice enough to host the party for them thats the least they can do for you.

Hi
I think thats a lovely idea for you to do and dont worry people wont mind taking off their shoes before they come in, Its no big deal and once one does it they'll all copy.. Best of luck and remember dont be afraid to simply say "right, can everyone leave their shoes here" .. xxxxxx

Just ask people when they come in to take off their shoes. It doesn't sound like such a big deal to me.
