shouldn't cost u any thing. just go to the genuine page on windows click validate copy and it should do it automatic. or if not it will give u a product key. copy and paste into the validate option. your not missing much a couple of downloads that are not that great

It's probably not over $100 for an upgrade, and not over $200 for the entire OS itself.

That reminds me: Don't download the Windows Genuine Advantage patch from Microsoft in the automatic update window. All it does is check to see if your copy is legal and then harrasses you if it isn't. If your copy is legal, then there's no point in downloading it anyway.

English is not my primary language. I think you wanted to say "how much does it cost to validate my copy of windows".

The only way is to go out an purchase a copy of the Windows platform that you want. You can obtain an "OEM", of windows for around $100.00 or less.

Windows does not charge you a fee when they download their "WGA", tool to validate your platform.

Their tool is free an it will either validate or let you know that you copy is not legal.

It costs around £80-£150

If you own the software, absolutely nothing more - if you don't installing WGA will have severe effects of your copy of Windows - no security updates, and anecdotal tales of Windows just not working anymore.

If you want Microsoft to validate XP Home it's $99. for their electronic key. Or $149. for XP Pro. You can usually buy your own install disk for less. One source is:

If it's a genuine copy then nothing. If it's a pirate copy then you can't.
