Almost all cookies start out with creaming together butter and sugar. You do this by letting 2 sticks of butter sit out until soft, mashing them up in a mixing bowl, and add 3/4 cup of sugar. Mash it together until its nice and soft and thoroughly mixed. Next, add an egg, and 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla. Mix it up good. Put 2 cups of flour in a smaller bowl, and add 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of baking powder, mix that together, and then mix into your egg, sugar and butter. This will will give you a very basic, plain, white cookie, and all other cookies are variations on this. To change taste and texture try things like using half white sugar and half brown sugar, and adding chocolate chips. Or use half butter and half peanut butter. Or add 1/2 cup raisins and 1/2 cup nuts and use orange extract instead of vanilla. The variety is endless. You can also make your cookies a bit sweeter if you like them that way. Add up to 1/2 cup more sugar without ruining the texture. Baking temp is 375, time should be anywhere from 9 minutes to 13 minutes depending on your oven. First few times, watch them carefully till you get the hang of it. Have fun!

Funny funny, get a recipe, buy the ingredients and follow directions.
Or you can buy the premixed ones in the cooler section of your store, unwrap, slice and bake. Or you buy a tray with shaped cookies and bake, or you go to the bakery and buy some.
