Spray her with water from a bottle or squirt gun whenever you catch her doing it. If she doesn't run to the litter box, take her to it.

The smell could still be there even if you've sprayed something. It can go down deep, and cats have exceptional smell. Try putting something in that particular corner; a plant (put rocks on the soil so she can't dig in it and poop there) or a piece of furniture.

Good luck!

Make sure she knows where the litterbox is. Just place her in the litterbox. She should know afterwards that that is where she should be going to the bathroom.

She might not like the litterbox so clean. My kitten didnt like his litterbox because it didnt smell like cats. (he was used to using the same litterbox as his littermates) so we took him downstairs and let him use my other cats litterbox. he was better after that.

i dont know if you have any other cats but it's worth a try, right?

also if you decide that doesnt work and she keeps going in the living room then get a squirt bottle and fill it with water. When you catch her going squirt her with the bottle but dont say anything. you want her to think that she will be punished for doing something bad even if your not there.

First, make certain to give your living room carpet a thorough cleaning. Even if you think you have it cleaned up, your cat might still be able to smell it and think that's an okay place to go.

Whenever she is about to do this, say NO firmly and take her to the litterbox. She will learn it this way. Also, I had a cat who pooed on the floor until I realized she was afraid to go to the litterbox because it was near the vacuum cleaner, and she was afraid of the vacuum cleaner.

Take the cat, stuff her nose into the carpet before you clean up the mess, say 'NO' firmly and squirt her with water. Then spray vinegar water onto the carpet. Worked with our cats.
