Why do you wish to reformat your hard drive as it may not be necessary to do this if we knew why you wanted to do this? Is it because of a virus or other malicious program slowing your PC down and doing other stuff to it?

If so I would recommend that you would get Anti-Virus/Spyware software. 3 free programs I would recommend is:

Clamwin (Anti-Virus protection)
Spybot and Ad-Aware (Anti-Spyware protection)

I use Spybot and Ad-Aware on my computer. Clamwin I have heard a lot about it so I imagine it's a pretty good program for free.

For paid programs that will probably do better than the free ones, but not cost you an arm & a leg. I would highly recommend:

AVG (Anti-Virus Protection)
Spysweeper (Anti-Spyware Protection)

If you still wish to reformat your hard drive did your computer come with a Recovery CD or if you have a computer like mine, all of that is saved on a seperate partition? If not, we need more info, such as what OS are you using?

Hopefully when you bought your computer, with it came a CD that contained the enitre processing information. you need that to reformat it. If you do(and hopefully you do) You insert the CD int the comupter and restart it. The computer will detect the CDs orders and it will ask idf you want to reformat. Its really simple, just read the directions and follow them. It should work.
