all the time, he says he gonna set up bear traps, can he get in trouble if he injures one real bad, also theres no bears just coyotes and the traps are specifically for big bears?

The rancher was in Arizona. He was prevented from protecting his own property by the government. And citizens have been made scapegoats by our government and judges.

It is real easy for anybody to say don't set traps, your inhumane etc. etc. etc.
But lets make believe it is your back yard, where you have planted veggies, fruit trees, nice lawn, swings for your kids and that you believe that your kids are safe in the comfort of their back yard and all of a sudden all kinds of people are going through, running, pooping, speaking a different language, stomping your plants, stealing your veggies, stealing the fruit, leaving trash, scaring the crap out of you. Would we be so tolerant? I sure would not. We can´t deal with a little loud music from the neighbor once in a while imagine 24-7 trespassing, and cleaning after them. I would be very upset.

If it's on his farm, then how can they run off to the ACLU and scream bloody murder if they are on his property? They are coming in to steal whatever they can get. Does anybody remember the congressman who's unattended house was visited by illegal aliens? They used his shower, took the food out of his refrigerator, etc. 'Cleaned the place out real well.

I'd do it, and don't worry about being sued. If they're illegal aliens, you cannot be sued. Only citizens are allowed to sue you. I'd put signs up (in English) saying, "Caution, bear traps are set ahead." Of course, they probably won't be able to read it. Then snap, one down, a few thousand more to go. Then if somebody does approach you about it, you can show them the sign. I'd put it up on your fence, that would be a good place for it.
