More than likely your cooling system needs to be flushed. After you flush it re-fill with the Chevy type radiator fluid. It is RED and not green. While it is specified for newer Chevy's it will even work on a Ford. It will cause your car to run about 10 degrees cooler too.
I would not go to a cooler thermostat. All that does is change when the thermost opens. It does not make it run cooler when it is hot. It may in fact make it run hotter in traffic because the thermostat may stay open ALL THE TIME and therefore the water in the radiator does not get a chance to cool down before it is sucked right back into your engine.

jeez, the thing should already be intercooled. try getting a radiator coolant flush to get all the gunk out of your radiator and your engine. You can also probably get a performannce radiator for like 200 bucks that will have a higher capacity and more efficient cooling than the stock one it has. Finally, the do make electric aftermarket performance cooling fans that will fit on the radiator you already have or on a performance radiator.

How do you make it run cooler? Spending money on it.

buy a 180 degree thermostat and buy some coolent additive at the auto parts store. One that drops your coolent temp 20 degress. Works great

What temp. is it running?
Does the temp rise at red light or when ideling?
Remove the top radiator hose.
Put garden hose in filler neck running slow.
Start engine, when engine comes to operating temp, you will see water coming out of top hose.
When water runs clear, drain, add anti freeze, and road check.
Still hot?Take to rad.shop for rod out.(about $65.00)
