I'm a hindu, and fyi, 70% of gods in Hinduism are women. The god of wisdom, the god of wealth, etc. are all women.

If we are made in God's image, that would mean that we all have an individual mix of qualities and quirks that are taken from God's own character, interests, hobbies, and so forth.

That would suggest, to me, that God as a gendered being is simply a view we have. Perhaps there's some good reason for it, or perhaps we just like to assign gender to everything. I could go either way on that; parent-child relationships are supposed to illustrate how to relate to God in many ways, so I can see some good theological reason for that perception. But, in studying language in high school, I learned that many foreign languages have this obsession with assigning gender to words, inanimate objects... everything. So it equally makes sense that our need for gendered items extended to how we view God.

Either way, I honestly don't think God has a gender, and while I use masculine pronouns to discuss and define God, I mostly do that because that's what everybody else does. I'd be equally comfortable with the feminine or all-purpose "it". If I'm wrong and there is a gender involved, I would presume it to be male since that was the human created first. But I think God is willing to answer to any name or pronoun that we feel comfortable using, anyway.

God is a woman. That's why I love her. She has a great sense of humour; that's why she invented man.
