It's from the ancient greek word, "WED" meaning to hump and "nesday" which means in the middle. (How was that for some total B.S.?)

Think of the typical work week (Monday thru Friday) as a hill with Wednesday being the peak or the hump. It just means that the week is half over and you're on the downhill side toward the weekend.

"Hump day" has nothing to do with sex on the weekends. There a seven days in a week, Wednesday is the fourth day and also the middle of the traditional work week. Its referred to as 'hump day' because the work week is 3/5 done and your on your way to the weekend. In another words, you crested the hill and on the downhill side to the weekend.

LMAO, they don't mean "hump" in that sort of way! It's like the hump of the week, or the middle, per say. It means, once you get over the hump, you're that much closer to the weekend, and since wednesday is the middle day of the week, it is refered to as hump day.

Middle of the week, you're over the hump, heading for the weekend. Also good to get laid if you can't wait for the weekend.
