I would make food available at all times and let the dog eat whenever it wants to. As it gets older and begins to slow down it's growth you can switch to routine feeding. Right now it's a baby and has a small stomach so it may not be able to eat enough to last until the next feeding.

I disagree with the others here. Yes, ADULT dogs should eat once or twice a day, but puppies should be eating more. I fed my puppy whenever she was hungry. They are used to feeding on their mother at all times during the day. Offer her some food every two hours and see if she takes it. If not, put it back and try again later. I did this for the first couple of months and then slowly switched her to morning and night feedings only.

the most ideal person to ask is your vet or a breeder... my breeder suggested for my 8 week old pup 2 times a day... at 6 weeks she had them at 3 times... if you leave food out all the time, you will be unable to house break them (but you should leave water out)... i guess a couple of factors play a role in their needs for food... activity level, type of puppy, and how much you feed per feeding.... but i would say no more than 4 times a day.....an no less than 2 for that age....but if you are house breaking, don't leave food out, they don't know how much to eat....

My family has been raiseing and breeding dogs for years. And I can tell you that 4 times a day is way to much and probably very uncomfortable for your pup.We have some pups that will be 8wks old tomorrow.Try feeding her two times a day:once in the morning and once in the evening. Glad I found yor question in time, cuz if I didn't your pup could have exploded!!!

Keep dry food out at all times. But if she eats it all when you first put it out, don't keep putting it out.
Give her wet food (Ekanuba,ect..) and make sure its made just for puppies (they say so on the can b/c they have extra nutrients in them) twice a day with dry food (also in puppy formula).
I believe you are over feeding her. Make sure she gets enough excercise as well but don't over due it at first since she is eating less food than normal. Good luck!
