My daughters name is Elizabeth Nicole and I have always wanted to name my next daughter Lindsey but I figued that LIzzy and Lindsey sound too close and may be confusing.

So We came up with Emileigh Lynn...

At first I liked to spell it different but then I started to second guess.

Do you think that people will botch this name often or is it obvious what it is?

would you spell it that way or a different way...If you would do it a different way what would it be?

I think it's a pretty name, and it's pretty obvious that its pronounced just like Emily. People screw up the pronounciation of my name all the time, especially on the first day of school lol but all she has to do is correct them on the pronounciation, and people will learn. i think you should stick with Emileigh, its a common name spelled in a cool way, much better than just Emily. It gives it a bit of a uniqueness, considering theres about 1 000 000 Emily's out there. if you want other ways to spell Emily: Emilie, Emilee, Emylie

That is a gorgeous way to spell Emily. It looks different and quite elegant. Go for it. People may not get it right at first, but once they learn, I'm sure they will get it. Take it from someone who's had their name mispronounced every time someone new says it. But when they see how the pronounciation goes with the spelling, they're like, "Ohhhh, okay. That's really cool (pretty, interesting, different, etc.)!" Good Luck and God Bless!

It's a pretty name, go for the spelling that you like. Lindsay is also pretty, and I don't think people would get that confused with 'Lizzy'. We named our daughter Cadance (she is 11 and loves it) against the wishes of our families who thought that it was too "odd". Our son is 8 and his name is Liron which means 'my joy/song' in hebrew....he also likes his unusual name. Our children have been taught from a young age to be an individual and neither have suffered from our choice of names that are not so common. How about Emilee...still different but with less letters.

While it's hip these days to go for esoteric spellings, if you're going for Emily (which, incidentally, I LOVE), then I think you should spell it that way.
Not only is it silly to spell it oddly (unless its a cultural necessity), but your child will have to try to explain to EVERYone she meets why her mother spelled her name that way.

Moreover, there are those that might try to pronounce it "Emma-lay" in which case, it would force the girl to have to correct those people and that can become quite tiresome.

Do your daughter a kindness and stick with the traditional spelling.

The spelling is going to cause a lot of confusion and problems for her. I absolutely love the name though. But, as far as the spelling goes....i would do a more traditional way- Emily perhaps?????Congrats on the new baby girl.Hope you find what suits you!

I don't think spelling it that way will be a problem, it's fairly obvious that Emileigh and Emily are the same name.

The spelling is ugly, so is the name. I never liked Emily, or Lynn, or Elizabeth, or Nicole. Those are such common, plain, and ugly names. They are not pretty, very feminine, and/or cute, they're just....blah.

No matter what the spelling, all four of those names are ugly.

People won't have a problem pronouncing it, I don't think.
But everytime your daughter tells someone her name, she'll have to spell it out for them b/c they're going to assume that it's spelled "Emily".

I'd spell it normal or pick a different name. if you wanted to use the "leigh" part there are several other things you could try.

I've know both and Ashleigh and a Ryleigh.
