But only among certain groups. There was a time when Muslims were very liberal and accepting of new ideas and new people. The same can be said for American fundamentalist Christians and Israeli Jews.
But some Muslims are not at all that way, most Jews are very open, most Christians think Americans are ridiculously arrogant in their presumption that their interpretation can be the only right way.
On the other hand, we aren't burning anyone at the stake, you are free to say what you please and it's not the priests who tell you what to do. There may be an excessive obsession with 'security', but that's the government, not the churches.
So the general absence of intolerance in the larger world make the mania of a few seem all the darker.

I agree religious intolerance is a serious problem and has been the root of a tremendous amount of suffering. Just make sure you realize that there are many religious people who are more than willing to be reasonable about how they go about their faiths.

The danger however is when religion meets government. For example in the case of Iran where a girl was sentenced to death simply because she had premarital sex. Actually in this case she was raped, but that did not matter either, her rapist only got lashes, but she still got death.

Islam is not the only religion guilty of these dangers manifesting themselves but in modern day history this religion is the one most in danger with their more radical members are actively trying to restore a Caliphate.

This would have an absolute disastrous atavistic effect recreating an untold amount of suffering. If you want to fight religious intolerance start with this problem as it is the most relevant to date.

Religious intolerance is a no-no in our household. I teach my kids that we all believe in the same God.....we just name Him differently....Tolerance in every aspect of life has to be taught by example- from the child's first smile (smile to all races) and first attempts to interact (talk to all races kindly and respectfully- we are all inhabitants of planet earth). We live in a place where my kids have a chance to practice what we teach, because people with diferent ethnicities and beliefs live here. At one point when I arrived here where I live now...my husband's family had three different religions...his Mom wet to a Catholic church...his Dad was an Esperitista ni Cristo and he became a born again Christian before I married him. We got married in a Catholic church. I am still Catholic, but I've been going to his church ever since we got married. As I said...I believe we all have one God...

It's been at an all time high ever since the advent of xtianity! They are filled with hate! All Wiccans should unite and set aside on Sabbat so we can focus our energy on bringing xtianity to a close. It maybe the only way to save the planet!
