Aah that name calling, how it marks one as an intelligent adult, how serious it makes ones opinion look! Well actually it doesn't, in fact, its a great way to make people not take you seriously. However, I happened to have CSPAN on this morning and the conclusion the guests had was that illegal immigration will probably decide the election so the Republicans will win again. Another non issue, like gay marriage, decides another important election. Not health care, not retaining pension benefits people have earned, not ending the war, not balancing the budget, not handling the debt to Communist China, not dealing with bird flu, not regaining the value of the dollar, not controlling oil and gas prices...none of the important stuff, no, the idiots are going to vote their own futures away AGAIN on the spurious, irrelevant "issue" of illegal immigration. As if people want to start paying $5 for a head of lettuce or $5 a pound for tomatos. Oh well. Let me extend early congratulations to you and everybody else who thinks name calling is political debate. You have earned it!

I will speak for many farmers-the 80% who don't want illegals here. Your food is covered-most farmers do not support the big corp farms who use migrant workers.

less than 10 percent by Mexico (10%pickers-less10% other farm related)--the other 90% of the farms say your welcome. We don't need you -you need us. Be nice

"Phillip Martin, an economist at the University of California, Davis, has demolished the argument that a crackdown on illegals would ruin it, or be a hardship to consumers. Most farming — livestock, grains, etc. — doesn't heavily rely on hired workers. Only about 20 percent of the farm sector does, chiefly those areas involving fresh fruit and vegetables.

The average "consumer unit" in the U.S. spends $7 a week on fresh fruit and vegetables, less than is spent on alcohol, according to Martin. On a $1 head of lettuce, the farm worker gets about 6 or 7 cents, roughly 1/15th of the retail price. Even a big run-up in the cost of labor can't hit the consumer very hard.

Martin recalls that the end of the bracero guest-worker program in the mid-1960s caused a one-year 40 percent wage increase for the United Farm Workers Union. A similar wage increase for legal farm workers today would work out to about a 10-dollar-a-year increase in the average family's bill for fruit and vegetables. Another thing happened with the end of the bracero program: The processed-tomato industry, which was heavily dependent on guest workers and was supposed to be devastated by their absence, learned how to mechanize and became more productive."

If every illegal alien here today currently left America, the immediate economic impact would be insignificant and over the long haul, the impact would likely be negligible.

Now--I think the government is for big business-all of them-that is who helps them win elections. But the tides are turning-the people are speaking out and taking action. This will create change.

Both of the major political parties support this CRAP! Nobody wants them here, so they need to get them out. Oh, but wait, we will be considered racist then! The funny part is, I think that media is on political agendas as well. I was watching some news program the other day and they claimed that a recent poll showed 74% of Americans supported Amnesty for all of the illegals! If that isn't the biggest lie I have heard, I don't know what is. This country is going to crap. None of the politicians are looking out for AMERICANS or our wants/needs. It's always about business, industry, and other countries.

Yes. I've had this idea since I was twelve or so, around the time
of the LA riots. If people of different cultures intermarried and
bore children it would inherently bring down walls of misguided
ignorant fears and prejudices which in turn would eventually lead
to world peace. But the question is can we sit on that? And if so,
is it tall enough to reach the counter? The industry standard
height of our kitchen sinks and counters requires that the chairs
seat is approximately 24 inches from the floor. Now if the space
that the chair is being used for is higher than that of the
kitchen sink this most often requires that the seat of the chair
be approximately 30 inches from the floor. Everything else is a
matter of aesthetics, and the word is "accepting"

Hell yeah they're wrong! Im paying taxes so Jose, Jesus, and Julio can eat for free?!! Eff that!! Im tired of them coming over here and having 15 kids that my tax money raises. Americans have to struggle so illegal immigrants can have it easy??!! I know...because over half of the students who eat free at my school are mexicans. If you wanna come over here legally and work and pay taxes..thats different. But I dont owe you a damn thing to sit on your *** and pass American money overseas so your family in Mexico can eat!!!

You know whats funny here, I live in Central California with the richest agricultural land in this state. So naturally we have a massive amount of illegals working here. Do you know how these mega-wealthy farm/land owners vote? Well it's not Democrat. So who is the problem here? The illegals or the greedy ******* who employee them?

May I ask where you got your figures for those opposed verses those who are pro or undecided? Did you just make them up to anger people? Or, are you living in a dream world of your own making? It seems that you are just using this issue to further your own prejudices. Grow up!
