Do you find a growing trend in our country (America) of people INSISTING that their political and/or religious BELIEFS are in fact, FACT...and REFUSE to listen to opposing views, opinions, or DOCUMENTED FACT?
ANY suggestions on how we can get through to these people?
They are a strong public and voting force, yet not dealing at all with REALITY, and insist on believing that any alternative view is simply a lie. Our current political regime has perfected appealing to people's DARKER side to gain political power, using hate, intolerance, fear, and prejudice to gain acceptance of very un-American policies. America is being split in half, and directed down a very dark path, as a result.

Well, to them, their faith is their reality. For example, I know that what I believe, including all the spiritual components, forms my reality, and I consider it to be fact even if other people disagree.
The difference is, I can distinguish between objective facts and objective reality, which can be asserted in a legal context, versus subjective facts and subjective beliefs, which apply to me alone.
The problem with too many people is that they are unwilling to make that distinction, and think that whatever they believe, everyone must. Then they deny the fact that the Constitution prohibits imposing your religious beliefs on others, because they cannot understand the difference between objective and subjective facts.
And yes, unless dealt with, it will likely result in either another civil war, or much more global consequences as different religions clash.
{EDIT to Saved} You honestly don't see any difference between the people who try to force their religion on everyone else, and the people who don't? Isn't the defined behavior identifiable to enough so that it can be referenced to mean anyone who does that particular behavior?

Although your message earlier was borderline ridiculous and also made me roll my eyes with an annoyed sigh for punctuation, you actually sound as if you have an oppinion on something worth taking the time to read. Kudos to you.

Your comment, "ANY suggestions on how we can get through to these people" is the same thing as what you are accusing "these" people of. Example: "Our current political regime..." There is no political "regime" in this country. But, I'm sure that to you, that comment is fact. Your entire statement is akin to the "kettle calling the pot black". Though I will agree, sadly, that the country is split in half, and it is due to such as this.

Yes and they appear to be ramping up support for a wider war in the middle east while saying it's unpatriotic to criticise. Recent speeches by Rumsfeld and Bush are downright frightening.

I think we all need to come together as americans and stop the government from seperating us, they do it by labels, democrate, republican, liberal, conservative, black, white, jew, christian, catholic, because when we are seperated they have the power to do as they please(as we all see illegal wire tapping just one example) as long as we are divided as american people they never have to worry about us coming together to challenge them
