Yes, Rising, there is no other possibility than "Rising" because the population of the earth is growing exponentially so therefore schizophrenia is too.

I say rising, I think it is sad in schools they now hire people to go around and spy on kids trying to find people who hear voices or can't think etc. it is sad. I have also been thought to have Schizophrenia and I say it really just is a gift from God. I hope someday to be able to feel better and get along with my voices so I can become a Psychiatrist and work with hurting people with my theories and therapies so there will be better treatments and a big difference! God bless you all! Sarah

Doctors are not supposed to diagnose schizophrenia in children. They might say schizo-affective for a few years as a wait and see diagnosis, which is not the same. 14 is very young for the onset of schizphrenia, is this a common diagnosis in your family? I'm curious to know if you are still a child and if yes, why are you so ready to identify as schizophrenic? Convenient excuse to behave badly? I promise I am not accusing, just curious.

I think the diagnosis is on the rise; who knows if the frequency is rising? I think in this age of societal stress and poor coping mechanisms it is quite possibly rising if you don't subscribe to a genetic mental illness theory (which I don't).

It is claimed that 1percent of the world population is living with schizophrenia.
It appears to be manifesting more in young men who trigger it by smoking too much hydroponic cannabis.
We are more open about mental illness nowadays-

I would say it is the same. What's changed is that our hypochondriac society is growing, in numbers of people who self-diagnose. They run to doctors, who are anxious to push drugs, and misdiagnose somebody with mild symptoms to "be" ADD, OCD, take your pick. It's ridiculous. Makes me sick, but I wouldn't see a doctor about it. They would tell me I "am" GERD, and sell me a ton of drugs.
