The water may contain chemical pollutants such as fertilizer, pesticides or herbicides used on the farm. These will probably not make you sick unless they are present in high concentrations.
Much more serious, though, is the possibility of biological contamination. Untreated river water is likely to contain bacteria or protozoa which might make you sick, possibly with such diseases as leptospirosis. The bacteria level is higher near farms with livestock, and higher in the days after a rainstorm.
Boiling the water for a few minutes will kill the bacteria and make it safer to drink (though not as safe as treated water.) Boiling will not remove chemical pollutants.

depends on where the source of the water is and what it runs through. water temperature is also a key factor.ok, a natural spring is where water simply flows out of the ground, this water is potable(drinkable) at least at the point where it comes from the ground.if it is near a farm it is possibly irrigation water.this could water pumped from the ground or a river.anyway really warm water like above 80 F has a huge potential for parasites and can cause all kinds of illness. just dont drink it and try not to get it in your nose if you swim. also near a farm there is a potential for fertilizers and pesticides.

You will more that likely get Da Poops! The potatoes are more than likely fertilized with cow dung that contains alot of bacteria (E.Coli) , farmers also use pesticides that can be toxic or cancer causing. My advise would be do not drink the water. If You really HAVE to drink it, boil it for 20 minutes to kill most of the bacteria in it.

they could get some internal parasitic infestation, and/or have their organs and internal body poisoned by the toxins used on the potato farm.
purify or just don't drink the water. or look into what all is used on the potatoes.
if you got sick you'd either be in the bathroom for a long time, or would need to seek immediate medical attention.
stupid chemicals, we should all go organic! :D

you could get sick, or possibly die, depending on what's in the water and how much of it you drink. the potato farm shouldn't be putting toxic chemicals into the water, and if they are, it's against the law. your chemical waste plant removes bad chemicals in the water, so if that plant is malfunctioning it could make you sick if you drink the bad water.
check the epa website - environmental protection agency. they control the amount and kinds of chemicals that can safely be in river water.

The stomach is so sensitive that you should be feeling it right about now, and if not just dont drink anymore unless you know how to purify it or you are just a whack job that wants to have diarrhea.
