It makes sense, he is middle eastern and was born in northern Israel, how many blonds are born in the middle east?

And besides, all the paintings and sculptures where he appears as blond, were made in the 15th century and past it.

Is there any document as to his looks?

As there is no record of his true appearance, this site shows you with more accuracy than any artists' rendering:

Actually, there are a noticeable amount of Israeli Jews with blond hair and/or blue eyes ... today. But back then-- a typical look would be "olive" skin and brunet hair. Black, meaning African *****, was not part of ancient Israel/Judah.

Although the Old Testament does say that both David and Solomon were redheads.

What's the difference between Jesus Christ and an oil painting?

You only need one nail to hold up a picture.

None other than a Roman soldier's account. That he was a average looking man, with short hair. But that means he looked like his fellow Jews of the area, Dark Hair, Meduim skin tone, dark eyes.

Does it matter? If you are deeply spiritual, you should worship whatever he stands for not how his earthly being looked like. On the other hand, if you are a true believer, then you can envision him anyway you want and it should not change a bit of what he stands for.

He was a Jew of average appearance; "He hath no form nor comeliness; And when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him." Isaiah 53:2

Yes, he was photographed often but the Vatican is hiding the pictures. Actually, he was Lithuanian. SSHH, don't tell anyone. It's a secret.

Yes, I agree with you. The bible says that there was nothing extraordinary about his looks. He was just an everyday Jewish guy. So, he probably looked like you described with dark complexion and brown eyes.

I've read a news article depicting how Jesus would really look, and you're right he looks very dark. Search for it on yahoo, there are tons of articles about it.
