In the UK you cannot. We have something called data protection - plus it would probably be a breach of human rights if EVERYONE and ANYONE had access to see EVERYONE elses records.

Only certain people can view these records and then they have to have genuine reasons to view them.

It depends on what state. Oklahoma has the best that I know of site of criminal and otherwise records on line, and pretty much in real time. Their website is: http://www.oscn.net/applications/oscn/start.asp (The Oklahoma Supreme Court Network). Go to the docket section and click on it. It's totally free.

If you are not interested in Oklahoma, which is probably the case, I'm not so sure, but I do believe that if you put into a search engine "(name of state) Supreme Court" or something similar, you have a good chance of coming up with their on line court records. I understand that more and more states are now putting their court records on line. If you can get a site that is coming directly with or affilliated with the actual court house or court clerk, then the info you get should almost certainly be free, as all that stuff is a matter of public record.

Only go to those pay sites if you are really desperate, in a big hurry, or you need info from a state that does not yet have it's court records on line.

Good Luck!

Not in the UK. You can apply to your local force's data protection officer to view your records if you have one under (guess what?), the Data Protection Act. You can't look at, or ask to view anyone elses though i'm afraid.

You certainly can't in the UK. The data protection act prevents these records from being openly shown.

netdetective.com but it costs money and then more money to delve deeper. Its useful but can be expensive. You also can as a private US citizen view them at the courthouse, unless the documents are sealed for reasons such as underage or extenuating circumstances.
