To me, it sounds like your dog is in "old age".

You did not mention her age, if she is older she could be developing some age related problems with the excessive sleeping and weakness. The panting and rapid breathing can be signs of a thyroid condition d or heart worm or a heart condition. The excessive sleep, weakness, slowness and non responsiveness can also be signs of dementia (yes, animals can suffer from dementia and Alzheimer's the same as humans can.) You need to take her to the vet as soon as possible, that is too many symptoms for her to be correctly diagnosed, without a professional actually looking at her. It would be a good idea for you to take a stool sample to the vets, so that it can be tested for signs of internal problems. Animals can also suffer from depression and the non-responsiveness can be a sign of this. Sorry that this does not sound too encouraging, but I am trying to be helpful. Please take your buddy to the vet and it will give both of you peace of mind to know what is going on and how to deal with it. Good luck.

To me it sounds like old age as well. Overweight also rings a bell since they get hot and worn out easily. Just feed a light diet, plenty of water and take it on slow but daily walks. Wish you the best.

Whatever you do, DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO A VET!

It is much better for the suffering dog to sit here and ask children, stoners, leftist radicals, right wing fanatics, atheists and muslims what to do.

Maybe you can help me, I woke up this morning with a stabbing pain in my shoulder. Right where it hurt was a large kitchen knife. What should I do?

If your dog is not on a heartworm preventative, this sounds a lot like heartworm disease.

A full check up is needed. Could be so many things. Tumor / cancer, heart condition... please take your dog to a vet asap.

First, it would help if we knew how old your dog is. If he's very old, then he could have a heart problem, or any other age related problem. Whatever it is, I suggest you take him to the vets.

That can be a number of things, including worms.

Take him to the vet stat! You've got a very sick pooch!

Good luck!
