I bet it is against your civil rights
to HAVE to learn Spanish in
your school!

It has something to do with
somebody and his hiring
practices, I guess.
He wants cheap labor.

We have to accommodate
all the illegal people who
come here to work by giving
them privileges that Americans
can't even get.

We want them to feel welcome!

We spend millions of dollars
printing signs, instructions,
books, and everything else
in their language, so that they
will be comfortable during
their stay while they are
waiting for their welfare
checks to arrive.

People that come here from
other countries to become
legal citizens have studied
and are studying our language.
They expect to learn English
to live here. They are GLAD
to learn English!!

It is the ones who swoop in
here to take advantage of
the land of opportunity that
we go out of our way to
accommodate...check it out!
Why would that be???

Honey, don't be close minded and learn Spanish or any other language for your own knowledge not to make it easy for the illegals, what if you have an emergency or you get lost on the middle of the night and the only person able to help you doesn't speak English, how are you going to communicate?
do you know that in most jobs right now the more languages you speak the more money you make?
doesn't hurt to expand your tongue, most countries learn English besides other languages, so I don't see why, some people living in this great country don't want to see more than what their nose points.

Because the Left in this country wants to lower the standard in order to accomodate them. I am Puertorrican, and my first language is and always has been English though I'm extremely fluent in Spanish as well.
If I go to any foreign country, I don't expect the locals to talk English to me. I HAVE to learn the language (or some of it) just to manage. If you want to learn another language, let it be your choice, not because some immigrant says they can't speak English. If you live in this country for more than one year, you end up learning something. If my boyfriend who's 45 and who has never learned any language before, has started to pick up Spanish just by hearing me talk to my friends and family back home, Juan and María can learn to speak English, or at least learn some basic sentences.

I don't think anyone has to lean another language, and I don't think anyone expects us to. I teach English to students of other languages. I am learning Spanish to help my students and their families, and I get a great deal of pride being able to communicate with them. It's a commodity, not a necessity. It might just be your school, or a few select schools, but my district does not require anyone to learn a certain language. There is a choice. I think Spanish is the most reasonable, as we are surrounded by the most Spanish speaking nations in the world (Mexico and most of Central and South America).

Don't you dislike it when your on the phone and you have to push 1 for English or you get on an elevator and it's directing you to whatever floor you need in Spanish? If I ever had to move to Mexico I would have to learn Spanish so I do not see why they don't have to learn English. Well I will tell you why it is just un politically correct to make Mexican Immigrants to learn English. You can thank the Liberals for that one. Another thing is teachers taking time from English speaking students to speak Spanish to those students who don't speak English! That is not right at all!

I don't have to learn Spanish and I don't take Spanish. You have to realize that we Americans are not the center of the world and that we are at a time where we are getting an increasingly global society. All of us need to change, not just them.

Are you aware that there is a world beyond the little place you call home? Do you plan to spend the rest of your narrow-minded life with your head stuck in the sand. There are beautiful countries that in many ways are more advanced than your little world, where Spanish is the main language. For example, Spain. But, this may appeal to you, it's called money. The green stuff knows no language. And if I'm competing with you and I can sell a product to a Spanish speaking buyer because he or she likes that I care enough to learn his or her language - then too bad for you. Sounds to me like you are snoozing and you are loosing.

You're not learning Spanish in school to speak to illegal aliens, you're learning it to be (somewhat) bilingual, to broaden your horizons. You may choose to travel to Europe and it could come in handy at some point. Schools also teach French, Russian, and other languages. If you have a grudge against illegals, focus on that and leave Spanish out of it.

good question.....if we would live in Mexico would they all learn english?No....because if they cared about being bilingual they would know english already, since america is their neighbor. We have to make up for their laziness ...that's all there is to it....I'm an immigrant too and no one catered to me.....I had to learn the language and that's how it should be.If people come to my homeland I expect them to learn the language after a while. It doesn't have to be perfect, but at least try your very best.I tried to learn english by reading and watching tv,like 24 news.....so it would repeat itself.Yes it's hard at first ,because you may read but not comprehend. The thing is,you have to want it bad enough and then you can learn. As long as there are signs in english and spanish, people don't feel the need to learn. It's america's own fault for bending over backwards for them.If you have it in spanish, then why not in all the thousands of other languages. But that would be impossible ,so why not just stick to english and make the ones that come over here learn. That's how it was when people first arrived and it is the same for people that arrive from countries that don't speak SPANISH.....

Who said you have to learn Spanish to speak with illegal Mexican immigrants? If your school makes you learn Spanish, ask them why they do it.
Learrning a second (and third, fourth etc) language is good for your brain, anyway. Just like learing how to play an instrument. Helps with the connections, ir something like that.
Anyway, I guess you´ll understand it better when you get older, and might even appreciate the opportunity you are being given now, to learn Spanish.

Most other countries HAVE to learn English, especially in Europe and Asia. Why don't you just get over it and shut the **** up. You can only benefit from learning a language, unless you're an ignorant prick like you.
