It seems kind of whacked out that it started as a Hebrew-only religion and that their prophesized savior came and only made a brand new religion for everybody. It's like... so WHY were the Hebrews involved in this? HOW did this help them out? I feel like I'm tripping just typing this out!

Does the "you couldn't make this stuff up" factor reinforce your faith? Are you likely to hear about it in sermons?

There is no reason to not think there really was a historic Jesus and his friends and later on St. Paul.

There is every reason to think that St. Paul's deification of Jesus was little more than his desparate attempt to satisfy himself with absolute truths and ultimate answers. He fooled himself and the entire Western World along the way. And it is clear that St. Paul never really understood Jesus at all.

Jesus had two fairly basic ideas, none of which has to do with utlimate answers or absolute truths.

1. We are far more than we can possibly imagine and we should live our lives accordingly.

2. Religion is not a set of rules to follow. Religion is all about caring for others and nothing more. No dogma, no spiritual nonsense, no beliefs, not even God.

These two ideas are enormously important.

Unfortunately Jesus never wrote anything down and probably did that deliberately to avoid having anyone try to create a religion out of what he was doing. And in his attempt to be kind and caring, Jesus used the superstitious language of his day to try to console and comfort people. In a sense, Jesus was his own Anti-Christ, as ironic as that sounds.

St. Paul sort of screwed Jesus' message up fairly well, telling people they were sinful, lowly creatures in need of salvation, that they needed a new set of rules, and promoting Jesus to a God. Thus St. Paul created the Christianity that we have endured for the last 2000 years. The Christianity that suppressed science for the same amount of time.

Christianity is not bizarre at all..... It is following and obeying the teachings of the Son of God, Jesus Christ.

Real Christianity sees life from a different perspective. It lives life on a higher plain.

You see, religion is man reaching for God.
Christianity is God reaching for man.
Religion is the earthly view.
Christianity is the heavenly view.
Religion is good views.
Christianity is Good News.
Religion is what sinful man tried to do to a holy God.
Christianity is what a holy God seeks to do for sinful man.

There's all the difference in the world between Christianity and religion.
Religion will make a person miserable whatever age they may be.
Christianity gives a person new life.

It's actually not that bizarre, if you look at the history of it all. Many of the things that happened in the old testament have been proven by archeaology. For example, the great flood is mentioned in almost every culture. And, they think that they may have found the resting place of Noah's Ark. They have also found artifacts from Solomon's Temple. Also, why would you want to believe in something so irrational as atheism? I'm not trying to diss it or anything, but i'm trying to prove a point. Look at it this way.....do you think that it is mathmatically and scientifically possible for everthing that you see to be made from an explosion billions of years ago? And honestly, the Big Bang theory disagrees with newton's laws of matter -- that no matter can be created nor destroyed, but only changed in form. The Big Bang theory states that (contrary to popular belief) all the mass and matter in the universe came from an outside source, and that the entire universe started from something that was smaller than the point of a needle. Why believe in something that is mathmatically/scientifically impossible and that contradicts itself. As for me, I believe in Christ and God, which are the true creators of this universe.

I am the king of an alien planet. This is such a far out claim that it must be true. If you believe this kind of "logic" then you don't know what logic is. Christianity is based on a distortion of history. Study world history, and learn the truth.

If you actually read it, it wasn't designed to be religion, but a relationship between god and you:

Romans 10:9-13 (King James Version)

9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Deuteronomy 24:21-22 (New King James Version)

21 When you gather the grapes of your vineyard, you shall not glean it afterward; it shall be for the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow. 22 And you shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt; therefore I command you to do this thing.

Its not so bizarre when you realize that it is true. I didn't realize about it until I drowned and was necessitated. Things happen for a reason, even if it is to prove "you can't make this up". God is great and so are his deeds as his son's were also.

One thing that opened me to Christianity in the beginning of my search was that it was so seemingly insane that I couldn't find a way a human could have authored it.

I don't know about all of that. However, I believe, and the evidence will show, that where the Jews left off, Christianity carried on.
