Had a Springer from a puppy until he was about 10. Crazy dog, but no problems appetite wise, he would eat anything he was given, including thieving the cat's dinner!

Perhaps if you were to try another brand of dry dogfood and leave him with just that food, plus plenty of fresh water, when he's hungry enough he'll eat it!

I now own a sheltie/corgi cross who is 10 years old, he's a fussy eater, but I find that when he's hungry enough he'll eat what's in his dish. He's none the worse for this, and is actually well fed, healthy and thinks he's still a puppy, either that or human!

If your dog has been checked out by a Vet and has no need for a special diet then he should eat whatever dog food you choose to give him.

This is easier said than done because it isn't easy to be firm about food if he keeps refusing to eat but he will eat if he is hungry.

Dogs often become 'fussy eaters' because of owners who give in to their parky ways. A Vet told me that dogs described as fussy eaters are often overweight because their owners feed the dog too much and only feed what the dog demands.

The solution might be to wean him off his Pedigree on to something more suitable or convenient and not to give in to him - but make sure he is fit and healthy to start with and keep an eye on him in case he begins to lose condition by refusing to eat.

My mum has a springer spaniel but he loves his food, however I have a boxer whos a very fussy eater, the best thing to do is give him his usual food and if he doesnt eat it within 10 minutes take it away from him and do not feed him again until his next feed time, while doing all this dont speak to him, he will get hungry eventually and learn that he has to eat what you give him when you give him it!

I grew up with a Springer named Augie. He replaced into the most astounding dogs with a form and gentle temperament. If I ever pass for breeds over mutts in my lifetime, it will should be yet another Springer <3.

.......Don't pamper to your dog, give it proper dry food. It will eat it when its hungry. My mother spoilt her Spaniel and it completely dominated her life, you sound as if you are going the same route.
Feed it the same time everyday (3 times), weigh the food and always leave water for it. Take this advice and you will have control of the dog and not the dog controlling you. Good luck.

I have American Cocker Spaniels and they are all picky about what they eat! I think it has alot to do with personality. My male was on dog chow and I have since moved him to Pedigree weight management and it took him awhile to accept it but i guess he finally got hungry..lol.
