It is caused by people's unhealthy lifestyle.

The unhealthy food you eat, alcohol, the lack of exercise, the lack of sleep and stress all can cause cancer.

Smoking and breathing in second hand smoke and air pollutants too can cause cancer.

Cancer has many causes and also some causes are not fully understood. IMHO, being a Breast and Uterine Cancer survivor, I really believe stress play a very large part. I believe stress breaks down the cancer cells, that are in everyone, and opens our bodies for those cancer cells to start multiplying. Everyone has stress in their lives and some stress can even be good but chronic stress or stress for a live altering situation can jump start cancer cells toward doing their damage.

However, genetics plays a role in many cancers. And there are a huge number of toxins that have been linked to cancer.
