Photo ID should be okay, but if you have a passport it may help with the American border. It would also depend upon what country of origin you are from. If you were not born in Canada or the United States of America you would be under other considerations.

I "heard" that you did need a passport for Canada now, but I have not checked into it. I do know a couple of people who are driving out from Alaska through Canada next summer and are getting passports, so everyone who is saying they will be required in 2007 may have it right.

Passports are not yet mandatory, You can get into Canada with just some valid photo ID.

The last I heard you had to have a copy of your birth certificate as well as a drivers license/state id to get back into the States.
Thanks to the republicans we cant even get home without a huge hassle.
Oh yeah I am in the Metro Detroit area and do go to Canada.

Until the end of the year a valid I.D. will work, but after the First of the Year you will need a U.S. Passport.
