Go door to door asking for money...

Just kidding don't do that. Organize an event and charge money for tickets.

Like a dance, picnic, or a field day or something. Those would raise you a lot of money but then you will need to do food and drinks and everything which is kind of hard. The easiest would be a sports tournament where you have to pay money to sign up. However that won't raise you $500. But you can do like a basketball tournament, then wait a week or so do a dodge ball tournament... another week and a football tournament and keep doing that until you have 500$. You will need volunteers to ref the games and set everything up and make the rules. What my school did is we had a teacher vs student basketball tournament (1 on 1 and some 2 on 2) and they charged for admission. And then the next year we had a basketball tournament with a rival school. Teachers vs Teachers (5 on 5 and each school had 10 teachers) and we charged $5 for students and 10 for adults. Since we had a Strong rivalry lots of people showed up. Our basketball teams were always the top 2 so we thought it would be fun to see how the teachers from the schools were. But you need a really good rivalry otherwise people won't pay that kind of money.

Car Wash, and only allow really hot chicks to wash the cars. With all the perverts on this planet you should have no problem raising 500, if not 1000.

Do a giant bake sale at your school/other schools in your district if you can. Things like bags of puppy chow, decorated cookies, fudge, and frosted brownies will sell out.

You could have a raffle and go around to local businesses and see what - if anything - they might donate to you for free as possible prizes.
