I have been offered lap-banding as a long term solution to my obesity. I want to know about experiences of this procedure from a patient's perspective. I am not interested in opinions as to the rights and wrongs of obesity surgery, nor do i wish to hear from those who wish to ridicule the overweight. I have a very serious life-decision to make and would welcome input from those who know about it from their own encounters with this type of intervention.

My wife had this done. You have to look at it as a tool to help you diet. The only distraction is a hard lump below the rib cage (the filling port). It has helped a great deal of people. My wife has been having trouble with it. As you know, it's adjustable. Well, whenever it's even slightly filled she can't seem to keep anything down - even simple very liquidous things. The positive side is that she could have it removed. But even un-filled it helps her to make more healthy eating choices.

I've thought about it for myself. I'm a little scared of having to wretch up flegm after every meal like the problem my wife was having. It got to the point where we stocked the car with airsick bags for after eating out. But I like how it reduces the hunger cravings. I think I could use that to really help me.

well John I have not had the proceedure but I am a nurse on a surgical floor and we do several lap banding and gastric bypass proceedures. The banding is very popular because it can be reversed. You only spend the one night usually in the hospital compared with about three for the bypass. The surgeons on my floor say that it is onlly successful about 50 percent of the time. I think its a personal choice and should not be taken lightly. I have thought about it for myself but right now i have no significant health problems so i'm going to try to loose it with out the surgery.

Gastric Bypass Surgery /gastrectomy/stomach stapling /lapband (all types of bariatric surgery) is very safe nowadays. It is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges obesity surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare.I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for american and canadian patients as obesity surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor i personally believe that your lap band surgery can be easily handled in India as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got her surgery for gastric bypass in India through the forerunners healthcare .She is more than very happy with the results. She has lost 65lbs in 5 months. She just paid 25% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company.hope this helps

My pal had it, and it replaced into very effective. She had to have it bec ause her weight and massive boobs replaced into messing up her again--she already had 3 again surgies. She weighed nicely over 330 pounds, and now she actually weighs about one hundred seventy or so. She is amazingly tall, so she isn't heavy in any respect. It took her about 3 months to experience typical again, yet she replaced into also recuperating from the again surgical treatment. G ood success
