I do not display my belts as this would go against several philosophies I am trying to master.
To display your rank is to be proud.
Pride is one of the seven deadly sins and it historically comes before the fall.

At our school your rank is a very personal thing and it is only shared with the brethren of our school, we are forbidden to speak of it outside of the dojo.

While Spidertiger has a correct answer that pride while it is good to have it in what you do, it is indeed a thing that could be twisted into a terrible purpose. I own a belt display but I don't necessarily show it to people for conversation sake.

but if you are interested in buying one, Century Martial Arts sells them as does Asian World of Martial Arts, if not maybe the websites and photos may help you with a few ideas on how to build your own.

good luck.

I think it depends on where you display it. In the privacy of your room is fine. Putting it in your living room or kitchen for all to see is just pompous. Kids don't know anything about arrogance, really- to them it's a show of accomplishment, as it should be. For adults it's a bit iffy, but I still think it's better to take care of your old belts this way than to stuff them in a box and let them collect dust for years. You work too hard for them to treat them like that.

most old-school practitioners would say if you displayed your belts on a rack somewhere obvious & open (say, your living room), then yes, but if the belt rack is for private function to keep your belts in order, then no.

If you are planning to start on your woodworking project, this isn't something you should use, it's something that you would be insane not to. Go here https://tr.im/QwNZe
Truth is, I've been a carpenter for almost 36 years, and I haven't found anything like this for less than 10's of thousands of dollars.

As the student progress by means of the belts they will learn about one pattern for each and every belt starting up straightforward and getting extra complicated right until they know 10 patterns for their black belt.
