There's no particular benefit to going without stopping. For example, if you jog for 15 minutes, then walk or stretch for a few minutes, then jog for another 15 minutes, you will get the same health and fitness benefits as jogging for 30 minutes straight. In fact, alternating your heart rate has been shown to be beneficial. Interval training is also very good for you. That's when you alternate between very high-intensity cardio and low-intensity cardio. Studies have shown that 30 minutes of interval training is more beneficial for weight loss than longer periods of cardio with no variation in intensity. Part of the reason is that intervals help you build muscle, and muscle mass increases your metabolism.

The best way is to do 15-20 minutes or more continuously. Cardio should be done in 30 minute time periods. During the first 15 minutes of aerobic exercise the body is using glycogen for energy. Fat metabolism doesn't occur until after 15 minutes, that's why it's good to do at least 30 minutes of aerobic activity (cardio). Anything over 60 minutes will still burn fat, but at a lower rate as during the first hour and can start using proteins from your muscles for energy. Always make sure you warm up and cool down. Suddenly stopping cardio activity can cause blood pooling in the lower extremities or make you light-headed or dizzy.

I taught Aerobics and the best way is first do some simple stretching and a work out of 15 mines without stopping and please when you stop, take the time to stretch again or at least lie back with your feet and legs up for at least five minutes.
You should never finish a Aerobic workout and just go about your daily business. Always stop and rest and let your body re-adjust. In my classes I always had a period of guided imagery after a work out.

If you want to burn fat then the best way I think is HIIT. Which is high intensity interval training. What you do here is warm up first of all, then go slow for 1 min and then go very fast for another 1-2 mins.Keep doing this for 20 mins or so. In this method you should be out of your breat and your heart should be pumping very fast.
