A hypothetical question for you.
If you alone held the power to make the Christian God system real, would you. This would require God being exactly as he is in the Bible. It would also determine if there is a hell. You alone would be responsible for the Eternal Salvation of Millions, and the Eternal damnation of Billions. If you choose not for God to exist, then there is no afterlife, things will stay the same as they are now.

In this scenario, you can not redefine God. You can only make him real or not real.

Please, no answers containing “He exists so it is irrelevant” or “He does not exist so it is irrelevant”

Now think about this.. If you are a Christian you combined with billions of other people do make the rules of the Bible into rules that exist in the real world. Given the rate of advancements made, eventually we could all be living a very dictated life.

What is your answer?

I chose Christians because there are a larger pool of them available, and to narrow the possible answers down to one God.

To those who think this may be a tactic to belittle you it is not. I am just curious.

I ask again.

Please, no answers containing “He exists so it is irrelevant”

The question is not so much about God as it is about you. I want to know what your choice would be.

Annihilation sounds preferable to me. I'm not so desperate to live forever that I would be willing to accept any form of 'forever'.

I don't think that I would. On the surface it kind of appeals because everyone could have the comfort of knowing that there's something waiting at the end; that life has a definite purpose and set of rules. I see people all the time, though, who claim one faith or another, seemingly unconcerned with the defined consequences of their beliefs. If I thought that having God was enough to encourage people to live fully and lovingly, I would do it in a second. But from what I've seen, human behavior has only been worsened; God and religion have been used as excuses, causes, and nearly everything in between. I don't mind not having a conclusive answer to life, I just want to enjoy it while I can.

Which god of which book of which bible? God changes so much from book to book and wouldn't dare to choose one if I had to take the others. Do I have to take the god who destroyed the cities of the plain and turned Lot's wife into a table condiment for a bit of nostalgia if I want the Jesus who said the sermon on the mount and fed the 5000?
Nope.

Well, if I can't redefine God, and since I don't belive in him anyway, I would have to choose not to have him exist.

If I could redefine him, then I might change my mind, but as he is described in the bible, he's a prick.

God is real...why limit it to the Christian explanation? There are many and varied ideas and concepts of God...your limitations would not allow anyone to actually do anything more than the fighting that already exists.

No. The god of the Christian bible is a hypocritical, egotistical god.

You are just trying to say he is not real. Do you really want to know this or are you just trying to challenge peoples beliefs? Sounds to me like you already have the answer for yourself.

Heck no. And, neither would most Christians - unless they want to be zapped off to hell.
