People who delight in someone elses pain have usually been hurt in their life. No one was there to show them truth. So they take pleasure in the pain of others. This gratification is common and they often feel as though they are a higher power. It's helpful to be empethetic to them.

you've heard the old saying,..misery loves company...right?
That's the only reason i can think of. It is sad that anybody is so unhappy that they enjoy seeing others that way...don't you think?
