Well the theists will say any council of men deciding on church matters are directed by god so their actions will be perfect, like doing up a bible. To me, nothing is truly perfect, except a well made pizza, so sometimes, on a cold night, in the rain, when the doorbell rings, the man brings the pizza to the door, and Loe and Behold, the Pizza is perfect. Right amount of cheese, slightly crisp 'ronis on top, a pizza one can be proud of. People gather around you and look in fear, but you comfort them, Fear not my people, for a new pizza is born into this land, and it is Good. They shake their heads in wonder and fall back as you hold a slice high above you. You loudly let out, This is your hope, and your fear. Will it always be so? Only if you have faith. Will it come on time? You must pray. Be true to this pizza and it will not forsake you. It will keep you full. Its empty box will hold your plate. It will not fit into the rubish bin quite right, so low it will sit in the floor next to the rubish bin for days on end.
The next time in the dark rain, when the doorbell is rung, you open the box and see, a couple fewer 'Ronis on your pizza, the cheese is a little gooey. Your heart falters, untill your brain tells you, good gods man, its still, Pizza, be happy pizza has come to your door at all. Do you think you really deserve pizza to start with? What have you done for pizza?? And you eat it....
So while a council of men cannot make a perfect decision, we as people can take their decision as perfect, when we want to justify our stance on something.

The council should come together in the interest of the people, they are serving with an opened mind and each has done their homework, in regards to the issues that are at hand,if they ask God to guide them, could make good decisions, that would benefit the people.
100% perfect, won't happen, because we do not live in a perfect world. After decisions are made, there are still people who want to argue and complain about the verdict.

A council of women? Not to be judgemental, but not at all. Woman can plot more than we truly know and can hardly ever come to a sensible resolution. It may be a nice resoulution, but nice is not always correct. Woman have a thing for thier decisions to be geared more in thier favor. Not all of them. Like for example, if woman were the council of men and we had to obey thier votes on how we should conduct ourselves, we would be a bunch of panzies. We would at some piont in time rebel because they would have taken away our natural order.
Now could a council of men make 100% perfect decisions? Not by a long shot and that is why GOD always appointed people to be in charge. Male or female. Like King David(pbuh), King Solomon(pbuh), and Queen of Sheba. There was no council, but wise people chosen for prudent decisions. But democracy is based upon votes and not who is logocally fit for the right of governing.
Niehter a council of men or moman can come to a truthfull and sensible solution when it comes to the matter to vote upon. This is the LOGIC of the nature of the world. For someone would always disagree. Which shall lead to an argument, to a heated debate, to war, then to seperation. But this is all my opinion and can hold no grounds except to myself when it comes to facts.
PEACE!

Have you taken a look at Congress lately.. I'd say no democracy cannot make 100% decisions perfectly.
A council of women.. oh goodness no.. the first one to hit menopause will have the others ducking for cover when a paper weight goes flying through the air....

Of course not. You always have to account for ego, personal opinion, greed, and so forth... On top of this, how do you define "perfect?" Your idea of perfection could be much different from someone Else's. It's an impossible task, but it's all we have.
If we could somehow educate people to make good decisions and support that with sound logic and reasoning... as well as a much much better method of teaching science and history i believe we would make much better decisions, although not perfect ones.

Perfect decision for who?
What is perfect for one person or group will not be perfect for another.
I would suggest a balanced council from all backgrounds, religions (including non religious), ethnicity would give you the most balanced answer, but even then, never a perfect answer.

No council of people can make a 100% decision ( i take it you mean aggreement)
i'm pragmatic when it comes to those kind of things.
Democracy rules - even if it's only by 5%.

I'd be surprised that a council of men could make ANY decisions, much less 100% perfect ones.

Sure. Everyone carefully debates and argues the strengths and weaknesses of each position, then after putting it to a vote... you do the opposite of what you decide. 100% perfect guaranteed.

Church creeds and statements of faith have been responsible for as much evil as any good they have done.
For one thing, Swedenborg's theology of the New Jerusalem is considered false by "orthodox" churches even though they are absorbing a lot of the concepts of a more loving God who is a marriage of Love and Wisdom.
