If we're all created in god's image and we've been less than...adequate in his eyes. What does that make of him? Is he less than adequate in his eyes? Doesn't that make him a sort of hypocrite for condemning us and changing nothing, and wouldn't that hypocrisy further taint his image? Just a question.

I think Don likes dudes.

How do you think your God feels about your c*ck cravings, Don?

Sorry, had to be a jerk for a second. Anyhow, here's what I believe: God is Santa Claus for ignorant adults. Now don't get me wrong, I find faith hugely important as it can be very, very beneficial to people in their everyday lives -- ignorance is bliss, afterall. However, He's part of a fairy tale that people just never want to let go of.

As humans, we're curious and need to know how things work, whatever they be. Life is one of those things. If you don't have an answer for something, the most common human reaction is to bullsh*t. This is what we get with the Bible. A collaberative exercise in bullsh*tting to the extreme. And damn if I wouldn't be pissed if I were Jesus Christ and could come back and see the legions of morons lying, cheating, and killing in my name today. I'm sure this is not what he had in mind when he began spreading his teachings. Those silly Romans, huh?

Maybe I should mention that I was raised Catholic, but am currently Agnostic. I believe Jesus Christ existed, and he was a wonderful, wonderful man... but just a man. And I believe that we do not need any more holy wars based on what are asinine beliefs.

Hey there, good question. Nice Avitar by the way.
Here is my response to your question. You know humanity was born out of God's image. Image is a lot when concidering it includes physical, internal, emotional, elimental, and biological aspects of humanity. This is something we are not suppose to waste time thinking about and only find those that do living in hypocracy .
Humanity is in representation of God's image as the result of His work and debates such as these are the seeds of doubt sewn into the minds of the curious and yield results of disbelief, cunfusion, and unanswered questions. In my opinion it is a simple waste of time wondering these type of things whenever the point is we are here as proof and to God a man who lives his life with a good code of ethics is the closest thing to God humanity will ever be. Woman's rights would fight the same type of belief that men are better than women because woman was created from man and one step less perfection than man making her therefore inferior to him. Yet some believe the male body is the most beautiful thing God ever created in sculpture, biology, science, and design. God is not a hypocrit in any fashion rather the hypocracy is brought on by man and his interpritations of the world.

You are completely ignoring or forgetting the reality of the Fall. True we are created in the image of God. God is truine in nature, we are a tripartate being of spirit, soul and body. We have free will and are subjects of moral agency. We are thinking, feeling beings with creative powers, capable of giving and recieving love. There are many ways that we are image bearers of our creator, but you have to remember that we are not now as we were originally intended due to the Fall of man in the garden. Its not that difficult to fiqure out. The tainting of the image of God is YOUR doing not His. He is the same today as yesterday and tomorrow. You can neither take from nor add to who He is and always will be. When you stand before Him you will know this. I don't think you'll have many questions at that time.

I wouldn't say He thinks of us as "less than adequate". I'd say we're more like His children and He's wondering when we're ever going to learn. But He loves us anyway.

PS: Being made in God's own image is physical, not behavioural.

If you're referring to Genesis 1:26, God is not in singular form here. The Hebrew word used is Elohim, which is the plural form of the word. The true, correct, and accurate translation here is as follows: "And the gods said; let us make man in our image, after our likeness". I believe that this is telling us that man was genetically engineered by a more advanced species that was on earth at that time.

Men create their gods in their images. Look them over, and see what I mean. The tale of Yahweh creating man in his image was probably concocted by Moses who is said to've written the first books in the Bible. He had an Egyptian name, and he was probably influenced by Ikhnaton the first recorded monotheist. Moses' First Commandment reflects henotheism, not monotheism, however.

If you look in the mirror of human existence this does not make sense (in his image) If you look at the spirit within that is the same in all, then you have a handle on God and His existence in humanity. While humans can strive for growth, there is no perfection. Only God is perfect.

the image that the Bible talks about is the image of holiness. Prior to the fall Adam and Eve lived in holiness. After the fall mankind has had a problem with holiness and this is the problem. God says that we are to be holy as he is holy. In the end we will be like Christ----holy, that is those of us that make it to heaven.

God is perfect. The image God created was perfect. Through personal choice and sin we have altered the image of ourselves, not of God. If there is a negative reflection in the image, we created it. God has given us a way to fix that image through Jesus Christ.

He created us to be good and righteous and gave us free will to choose good over evil. It is up to the individual how he is seen his Heavenly Fathers eye's.
