I'm not quite sure what you mean by dvd writer, but if you have a dvd drive and something like media player or interactual (both free downloads) you probably should be able to play them. If you have those things and you still can't, you may need a dvd or M-PEG 2 codec, which allows you to watch DVDs on your computer. If you have internet (what am I talking about, this is a website) and $15 to spare, try this site: http://www.sonic.com/products/Consumer/CinePlayer/Decoder/quicklook.aspx
Click buy on the right-hand side of the page.

You'll need a dvd reader at least, which is not the same as your cd drive. Most new pc's come with a dvd/cd combo drive. If you haven't got one then you'll be pleased to know they are dirt cheap to buy - try www.savastore.com

Just get a DVD Reader. Try to get a combo (a DVD writer as well) if you dont have one.

If you do not have a DVD ROM on your computer then you will not be able to watch a DVD. Most new computers come with a DVD ROM at least. If you cannot aford one then you can buy a DVD ROM and have it installed on your computer.

You have to buy a dvd reader like your CD driver... That's the only way! Good luck!
