No, he was a Chaldean, married to Ur indoors.

The way I read it he started out in Ur of the Chaldean's. He later went to Canaan, then Egypt, then many places around the Jordan river valley.

Try going to a web site with maps on bible history and you can pinpoint some of the ancient locations.
