If it was a faulty toilet or a result of a mean joke, it is the homeowner's fault and their homeowner's insurance should cover it.

However, if you are just a clutz, you are on your own.

Context would be helpful.

First, what exactly happened?

Second, and even more importantly, why do you want to know? Are you planning on suing a friend or relative? If so, why would you want to destroy a relationship?

If someone is trying to sue you, try to find out why. Is it because you didn't show any sympathy for the injured party? If they are just being greedy, then it depends on the cause of the injury, whether you will have to pay.

Or is this just idle curiosity or a bet or something?

As others have said, if the toilet was a hazard, them; if you were being a klutz, you.

yeah I agree it would be the home owners fault and you should never forgive him or her for it as long as you live.

You know it was a master plan get you in their house to stink up their home. So they as well planed to buy a tolet that would fall part and hurt you to pay you back for the bad smell. And if you noticed they cleaned the floor so good but only because they knew you will slip and fall trying to slam your butt on the tolet to hurt your rearend.

Really you should not hold it against them but they should file it on their home owners ins. You do understand you went to their bathroom and it is not like they begged you to use it. If you get hurt take care of it on your own if you have to because it is not their fault. If they are jerks then so be it what ever happens happens. Up to you... But really you should file a suit on the makers of the tolet or maybe the person that installed it if it broke. If you fell off I'm sure you can sue the owners of the house but that would be kinda on the Chicken Sh!t side.

How did you get hurt? Was there something wrong with the toilet, sharp edges or a cracked seat or something? If so, that person who's house it is is responsible.

If you sit on the toilet and it breaks and crashes to the ground leaving you cut with the sharp edges of the porcelain...then the homeowner is liable for damages.

If you sit down and herniate yourself trying to pinch a loaf....then it is you.

If you sit down and miss the toilet and fall and hit your head...it's your fault.

Take responsibility for things that are your fault.

You seem to have a lot of issues with toilets! Perhaps you need to be potty trained.
