Get a lock for the door

2006-09-03 04:22:32 · answer #1 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

My parents refused for the longest time to get a lock on the bathroom door, but since it was a small bathroom, I discovered I could "lock" the door by pulling out the drawer in the counter. If I pulled it out far enough if would block the door and it wouldn't be able to open. Do you have a set-up that's similar?

If not, or if you're able to get a lock, that's definitely a good idea. You also might want to consider a sign on the door..or have a good old fashioned Family Meeting/House Meeting/Etc Meeting to discuss this issue.

Yes it's rude if the person is an adult. If it's a small child, talk to them about not coming in when the door is closed. I would also lock the door. If the door doesn't have a lock, get one.

If the door locks, use the lock! If it doesn't, try to block it or create some type of sign to let them know it's occupied. You could just turn the tap on or whistle loudly or something. If you close the door but don't fasten it, how are they expected to know you're in there?
More than rude, it's embarassing--to both the person who comes in and the person inside.

Yes it is rude.

First I would lock the door. If it still kept happening, I would start shooting.

Nothing says "Give me privacy" like a Beretta.

You know?

Of course its rude.

Get a lock, my friend.
Living w/ 2 brothers who often wait to the last minute to use the bathroom, and often rush to it without checking who's in there - I've learned it's the only way.

Of course it is rude! If there is no lock on the door, then say" Would you mind... I am using the bathroom and would like some privacy".

I think it depends on who it is that's walking in... if it's a child, your child specifically, it doesn't seem so bad. But if you're a teen/young adult and it's your dad or something, not cool.
If it's a friend or family member doing it, just talk them and let them know that it makes you uncomfortable when they barge in while you're doing your duty.
If you live in a share where there's a community bathroom, talk to the landlord about getting a lock placed, or get one of those cheap door hangers that says 'in use' or 'do not disturb'

Lock the door or put a lock on the door

I used to live in a house where kids could do that. It had a lock on the outside (that was put there because of a break-in that had occurred), but none on the inside, if you can believe it!
