Not the usual tunnel with a bright light at the end.

No I never saw hell, but I did have a pretty interesting experience though. I was involved in a very serious car accident and had to be taken out of the back seat by using the "jaws of life". Basically we had a lady hit us from behind at about 60 mph. I don't know whether it was from the drugs I was under, or the extreme trauma, but I did see and experience some unusual phenomena.
The first was being in a place that was extremely beautiful. It was night time and I was on a cliff that looked down on a broad river running through a magnificent canyon. Though there was no moon out, the sky actually lent some light from the multitudes of stars. The ground I was on was covered in flowers. The river was full of light that made the canyon that it was in glow, highlighting the sides of the rock, which were different shades of blue and green. The flowers I was on were mostly red with some different colors that I had never seen before. I recall this, as being an artist it was pretty wild for me to see colors that I didn't recognize.
The next thing I remember was being in darkness with light being nearby. It wasn't like being in a tunnel or having the light at a certain angle. It was more like I was in a separate room, but I knew where the light was because it was so strong. It was almost as much a presence as it was something to see by. There seemed to be a discussion of sorts...and I got the feeling that there were alot more (people?entities?) there. Basically it was like they were being asked if anyone knew me or could speak for me. One light stepped forth and I knew it was my grandfather who had passed away a long time ago. I was told by him that it wasn't my time to be there yet and that I had a couple of choices (for some reason I couldn't fathom). I was shown two distinct paths I could take for the future. In one, I was wealthy, but alone. I was shown a vision of me gardening outside a large fancy house in a beautiful yard. I didn't seem to be quite happy though. In another vision I was inside a rustic house that wasn't brightly lit, but I was surrounded by a wife and alot of family. I was older, but seemed to be happy surrounded by my children and my grandchildren. I remember being caught by a moment of indecision and I asked my grandfather why I couldn't have both, and why there had to be a choice. The next thing I knew I woke up in the hospital.
Some things have already come to pass. I won't tell you what they were, but I will tell you that I now have a wife and two sons. What the future holds is still not written in stone, but I look forward to being alive to see my grandchildren. I don't really care whether anyone believes this or not. The truth is for me to know alone really and to be honest nobody reading this will know who I am anyways. Anonymity lends a certain amount of bravery. I invite you to take away from this interesting tale what you will.

In near death experiences people generally encounter what they expect to see. Christians are met by Jesus or Mary, Jews find themselves in the company of Moses or David, and no doubt a few Muslims imagine their virgins waiting for them. A very religious person who has strong guilt feelings, whether conscious or subconscious, may imagine a hell. It happens very rarely, but it happens. Almost all near death experiences are either nothing at all or blissful.

All the people I've heard who had near death experiences have seen Heaven and not Hell. So this could mean that either all the people who saw Hell didn't want to talk about it or that there is no Hell and our destiny is to go to Heaven.

I've had a nde but not of hell.
My nde was in a near car accident. Just before the (near) collision, on a very misty motorway, I saw the "grim reaper" just to my left near the passenger window.
He looked like this http://img.freeforumzone.it/upload/735066_grim_reaper.jpg
but was made from mist.
Honestly.
Yes I had taken drugs in the past, and pot that day, but never experienced hallucinations like that before, ever or since!

See Susan Blackmore's book Dying To Live to understand what the near death experience really is.

No I haven't .. but I've heard of people who have. They say that people who die briefly on the operating table and report that they think they had died .. (and the doctors agree with them .. as there were no signs of life ) .. about 50% of them experience something warm and wonderful .. and the other 50% report something very strange and scary. The 50% that report the "strange and scary" are not printed up as often in the papers or on TV shows. Maybe because they don't want people to be afraid of the afterlife. Good luck ! :)

No. Although I got kind of scared when I started choking and no one was around. But I prayed and God helped me. It scared me, but it wasn't near-death or hell.
