Continue to show you are ready for the additional responsibility of caring for a life. Feeding but not over feeding, constant supply of water, Proper humane treatment and medical attention if needed. It might be nice if you visit web sites for pet adoption and prepare a sales pitch showing pictures of adoptable pets and approach it admitting that you ARE READY but would like this to be a family project because you may still need to learn more about pet care. My daughter has been making wanted posters of several small dogs and leaving them on the fridge. She has sold ice tea and cool-aid at our yard sales and has been creative in asking to do more advanced chores for a “I NEED A PUPPY FUND". Make it fun and eventually your quest for a pet should end in a positive manner. Best of luck to y ou

Do a lot of reading and research on dog care and training; take a pet First Aid/CPR course through your local Red Cross; volunteer at a local shelter...

The more experience and knowledge you accumulate, the better preapred you'll be to handle whatever arises with your pet.
