I always saw a break in a relationship as a negative thing. People give me some ideas on how it can be postive for a relationship and when a couple should have one.

Not necessarily. It can also make the two of you see and feel what life would be like without one another. If the break is only to see other people - yes, and I'd not re-enter the relationship.

when u feel burnt out or things are getting boring take a break a break can be a good thing becasue if you really love them the break will make you realize just how much you need them or just how much you want to be with them but dont get me worng if you take a break on bad grounds the relationship just might edn up in the dumps so always try to take a break on good or happy terms

I had a girlfriend that I was with for a year and a half. We broke up a month after the engagement because she needed "space." I was devastated, but six months later we got back together. The time apart was just what we needed. We both needed to make sure that we were truly right for each other. The time apart was tough, but looking back on it, it was worth it

I have found it to mean a break up is imminent or the other person has found someone that they are or want to sleep with other than you. Maybe its not like that for all people, but that's been the way of it for me.

I'd say it's usually a sign that you're gonna break up.
