Some people fluctuate that much. Weigh yourself at the same time every day in the morning after your first pee. That is the time when it will be the most accurrate weight. If you wait until after you eat or are holding pee, it's weighing the food and fluid too. Also if you weighed yourself one day and only had a salad then a few days later ate a half a pizza and weighed yourself, of course there will be a difference.

Too many variables exist to answer this question. Allow me to give you some pointers on your diet/weight control, no matter how you go about it.

A diet without some type of an exercise program offers you no long-term benefits. Along with exercise comes Muscles. Muscle is denser than fat, thus heavier than fat. The trick to knowing if your diet/exercise program is working or you is to pick a pair of pants that fit snugly today. A week from now, try them on again. What the scale indicates is not always the best gauge of success when dieting. Do not check your weight or the snug pants for a whole week.

When weighing, do it on a Tuesday morning after you relieve yourself, but before you take a shower or have anything to eat or drink. Weigh in the buff to eliminate the possibility of clothing skewing the results. Tuesday is a good day as it gives all day Monday to make up for any slip-ups over the weekend. The reason for weighing after relieving yourself is that liquid is heavy. In addition, emptying your bladder eliminates another possible variable.

Other tips to help you drop pounds and build muscle include parking at the far end of the parking lot and walking to the store. Forget about waiting for the first spot next to the doors. When you go grocery shopping, go up and down each aisle at a brisk pace. One need not sweat to benefit from cardio-stimulating exercise. Quit using elevators or escalators and take the steps. If you have access to a multiple storied building, make use of the stairs as another form of exercise. When tempted by something not on your diet, count backwards from 100. If you make it all the way to one, eat the snack. Most people will stand in front of a snack for that long before turning and walking away from it. If you have an office job, you may work and exercise while sitting at your desk. Focus on one muscle group, abdomen, thighs, calves, back, butt, etc. Tense that muscle group for a count of three and release for a count of three. Do each on 20 times. Over the span of a couple of weeks, gradually build up to a count of 20 for 20 repetitions. Such simple things as these add some definition to muscles.

It could be that you moved the scale (hard floor vs. carpet under the scale makes difference, and hard floor is much more accurate), or you could be losing or retaining water, or it could be that you ate a large meal or skipped one...

A change over 2 days doesn't count, especially for women (our bodies are affected by water retention and such a lot more). Don't weigh yourself every day, just once a week or even every two weeks, to see real weight changes.

It happens to me too, and I have a very expensive scale. If you haven't binged during the time, and don't deserve to gain the weight, then a lot of this has to do with water weight gain. If you eat too much sodium or over indulge, you retain water. I also tend to retain water after vigorous exercise. Not to mention, that we women, tend to hold about 5 lbs of water just prior to starting our period. That is why most weight loss programs and experts recommend weighing only once a week, but I can't do that. I am too addicted to that scale.

Three Guesses:

1) you stand on the scale inconsistanty.
2) your scales battery (if it's digital) is low
3) Water weight... it can easily account for 5 pounds.

That is a big variance but weight depends on a number of things. The time of day, how much you have eaten/drank that day, how and where you stand exactly on the foot pad. Still that big a variance is a little odd. To give it one last chance, weigh in first thing in the morning after using the toilet. Its sounds gross but it isn't part of you. Also what you're wearing can affect it.

You either have a broken scale, or an inaccurate one, or you are weighing yourself at different times in the day. For most accurate readings you should weigh yourself at the same time perferably in the mornings.

It's normal for your weight to fluctuate up to 7lbs. on any given day. The best thing is to only weigh once a week or once a month. You could be retaining water or it's because you're at a certain point in your cycle.

probably b/c there is a 6-7 lb difference from when you weighed yourself 2 days ago. maybe the clothes you were wearing or the hair you were wearing made a difference.

weight can fluctuate for a number of internal and external factors

best thing to do is not be so critical of daily ups and downs but that week after week you are consitantly the same or going down (depending on your objectives).
