Actually, that's only partially correct. You fall asleep easier, and that's because alcohol is a sedative ('downer'). However, it also disrupts you sleep patterns, which means that you often wake up in the small hours and may find it difficult to get back to sleep again. At some point the toxic after-effects of alcohol (dehydration, irritation of stomach lining, etc.) also start to kick in, which often wakes you up. So in fact, although you may fall asleep easier you actually sleep worse, both in terms of quality and quantity of sleep.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!
1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.
2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.
The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.
After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net
Ohhh..and Good Luck!

You feel that you've slept better but really nothing beats a good sleep after a day of exercise and fresh air......a drunk sleep is nice once in a while though!!

Yes I do get to sleep easier when drunk,
but wake up earlier, because of the drink.

To go to sleep is the straight way to piuke - never do this - stay awake and drink some coffee or tea, or nothing, but ABOVE ALL just wait - when later you feel better - ok

You don't. Alcohol induced "sleep" isn't proper sleep, it's closer to unconsciousness (it's an anesthetic - ever woken up from surgery?). You don't go through the proper sleep rythms and that's why you wake up feeling crappy.

You don't really - alcohol inhibits certain types of sleep and worse of all, you wake up with a dry mouth - ick!
