allthough windows 98 is still a good operating system,it has too many security flaws, this is from a guy who had to be dragged kicking and screaming from my 98 p.c and convinced to upgrade to xp
because of the security issues, very few new programs are being made for 98,one good thing 98 has going for it ,is the selection of downloadable games is vast...go to http://www.download.com/,for the biggest selection of 98 software and games you will find
google earth will work on 98,as will another earth veiwing program called nasa world wind(http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/)
also go to the microsoft site(http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/) and you will find lots of add-ons for 98,but i would try to upgrade as soon as possible as your system is now prone to hackers,as you are no longer receiving updates(stopped in july 2006)
best deal on windows xp home sp2 (http://www.dabs.com/ProductView.aspx?Quicklinx=44RX&CategorySelectedId=11168&PageMode=1&NavigationKey=11168,12&InMerch=1
,this is the cheapest in the u.k
good luck

If you're refering to an operating system upgrade, then no, you must pay for an upgrade to Windows XP. Make sure you check your hardware before doing so though. I don't recommend that anyone install XP on a computer with LESS than 512mb of RAM (although it will work with less, just slower) and a 600 mhz processor or better.
