Yes, we are a very small church. There are only 6 familys which makes for 6 actual tithers. But it is more than enough to pay the bills and then some left for repairs and such.

No were not nationally recognized. You might find one small church in each town of this ministry, its not a religion nor a doctorine so were not nationally recognized because of that. And its not the pastor who is doing wrong with the money its his wife. He trusts her to handle the money and bills and she obviousley isnt doing it.

Its way understandable. I would put your money where you feel it can help others, wherever that may be and let that be your tithe.

You must pay your tithe regardless of how it is handled. You need to speak with the senior pastor about this. If he cannot resolve the issue, then you must decide whether you can stay with the church or find another. Tithing is not an option, but you do have the option of which church to attend. God considers the handling of his money to be very important. Often times people that are appointed to handle church funds are poor at finances and sometimes they get their priorities mixed up. Paying the basic operating expenses of the church is the first priority in keeping the door open. If there is no water, then the toilets will not flush. If there is no electricity, then the pastor will be preaching in darkness and there will be no air conditioning. No member of the church should have to shell out money to pay a specific bill---it is the responsibility of the entire congregation to see to it that money is available to pay all of the expenses.

Praise the Lord!
Paying tithes is a commandment 1st. When you pay tithes, you are paying your tithes unto the Lord. Do not worry about what the pastor does with it, because you have done that which is commanded of you. If the pastor does anything with the tithes other than what God will's for him to do; then the blood is on the pastor's hands. In
MALACHI 3:10,11
10) Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of host, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to recieve it.
11) And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the friuts of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the Lord of host.
So you pray over your tithes and offerings, that the Lord may return unto you a blessing. I pray for you. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen.

Is your church a part of a larger denomination that has state and national offices? Who (besides God) does your pastor answer to. It is such a small church that everyone must know what is going on. Do it Biblically, the church needs to confront the pastor and his wife about how they are using finances. If they do not listen, take it to the state board or national board. If they still don't listen, kick them out. The six families can start a home church, meet in each others homes, and start over.

OK...if you're not the only one who's wondering about the bills, perhaps you should ask the woman to resign. Otherwise, she should be keeping books on all the spending. Perhaps no one else is tithing either! You'r mother-in-law is doing a good work paying the water bill. I would say that you should give your tithe with a specified use: say for Sunday School books or something else important. In the meantime, if you're really concerned, talk to your pastor. Godloveya.

I do believe in paying your tithes. But it sounds like you have a real problem in your church. First of all, who is the woman taking care of the tithes? Sounds like you need to talk to your pastor. The church should have a financial meeting and discuss what is going on. Appoint someone else to be in charge. I don't believe you are wrong to question this. Good luck and God Bless.

Perhaps this needs to be brought up during board meetings. Does your church have a board? Maybe you should bring your concerns to you minister, he should be able to help with this. If bills are not being paid and their is money for them, then something seems to be rotten in Denmark. But, lets not jump off the peer yet, when you pay your Tithe you are doing as God wishes, so you have done your part, what happens after this is up to the Elders, Minister, and Treasurer. I definitely understand your concerns, and think this should be investigated. But, as I said before, we Tithe because God wants us to, so you are obeying him and doing right when you Tithe. God Bless!!

where is the accountability, there should be a commitee that she answers to, the absence of accountability gives one too much room for coruption to come in. This problem should be brought before the chruch leadership. and no, if the money is not going to where it is supposed to go you should stop giving until a correction is made.
this does not absolve you from tithing, you should simply with hold it until the error is addressed.
this sounds like a small church, is there enough tithing coming in to pay the church expenses?

You have to remember when paying your tithes it is just that, an agreement between you and God and how you are showing your faith in (him) not in man. So continue to tithe because God knows why and will bless you according to his word and his word won't come back void. It is not up to us to monitor what is done with the tithes after we have given it up to God. You can speak up on the subject of why isn't the money being properly used in ways that it should be. But never worry about what God has in store for you. Stay blessed!

Everyone is accountable for their actions. I don't think presenting this question on Yahoo Answers is the place it needs to go. Talk to the pastor or the church board about your concerns.

I would say that if there is anyone you can talk to about it, try. My brother used to tell me this; what happens to the money doesn't matter because you are still doing what God wants you to do. What matters is that we do what we are called to do; in the mean time I would suggest praying about it. You mother-in-law is paying the water bill; she will surely be blessed by God!
