People of the scripture went more on facts provan than beliefs. For example, it was a fact that moses(pbuh) led the children of israel out of egypt by the grace of GOD. He did not do it by belief, but facts proven by his GOD. For whe it came to the true GOD, he had no choice in the matter. One could not contest the knowledge and capabilities of the egyptions without the proofs of GOD. Whether moses(pbuh) believed or not, the fact still remained.

For John M: I already know the definition of religion. In english it is defined as system of beliefs. But in latin it means to tie or bring together. And in greek it means to divide and conquer. So which one is correct?

Let me put forth a parable. It is a fact or belief that moses(pbuh) threw down his staff and it turned into a snake. Would one contest this parable as an actual event that happened(fact) or would you place your opinion on a belief that this might be possible? To a conjecture that I don't know if this happened or not?

If there are no facts in religion then how can you fully believe in it.

Say if a religion said that everything in the universe centres around the Earth that's stupid that is just belief and if God told people that then that was just there minds not God as God would have given the right answer not the wrong one.

Hope that made sense, just trying to say you do need facts in order to believe something else it isn't logical.

A combination. The old testament is full of stories of men and women who existed and have left physical evidence of their existence. It also contains explanations of events that were viewed or surmised by the 'wise men' of the time. For example, if your entire world consisted of the Tigris-Euphrates river and some massive earthquake/unprecedented rainfall caused cataclysmic flooding you might well believe the whole world had flooded. But how do you explain the survivors? Someone built a boat... etc. How did he know? Divine intervention! If you want to explain how mankind came to be, knowing that a child comes from a male and female and each of them come from a male and female, your logic would tell you that in some distant past there was an original male and female. How did they get here? Poof! Divine intervention. Keep in mind that the old testament and most of the new testament were written by scholars that thought the world was flat and the stars were holes in an overturned bowl.

The new testament has 'proof' in the existence of the Dead Sea Scrolls. I believe Jesus existed, I believe he was a great teacher. I believe he had powers to heal that all humans have but haven't learned to use. I believe he lived during a troubled time, your nation is occupied by a sometimes brutal foreign army, you live in a desert. You have to figure a large portion of food was going to the conquerers not the natives. He taught that if you love one another you will be happy. Makes sense, if you don't piss off the Roman soldiers you don't get flogged.

Sorry I could go on and on about my suppositions.

Why on earth God provided his previous great prophets with miracles that Christians all the time mention with pride but never have evidence that they really occurred. God who created humans knows best that they need proofs and this should not be denied. Because all previous prophets were sent for certain people at certain times and places (limited) their miracles were valid only for those people at their time. Now the great difference of Islam is the fact that it is intended to be final global and universal message for all humans, and for this reason its miracle is the mother of all miracles which is the holy Quran. The miracle of the Quran is eternal fresh and its challenges are still valid. It is beyond doubts but only for those people who respect the great gift of God by providing them with superior brains to use not to put on the shelf. Prepare a good answer for God on the last day. So Christians if you don't respect facts and evidences and you prefer blind fait why Christianity is superior to Hindu or any other religion? Wake up call.

Why did I Embrace Islam?
This is an extract from Dr. Gronier, a French MP, who embraced Islam. Revealing the reason of embracing Islam he said, I read all of the Ayat (Quranic verses), which have a relation to medical, health, and natural sciences that I studied before and have a wide knowledge of. I found that these verses are totally compatible with and give a picture of our modern sciences. Thus, I embraced Islam as it was obvious that Muhammad revealed the Absolute Truth more than a thousand years ago. Had every specialist, artist or scientist compared those Quranic verses to his own specialization, beyond the shadow of doubt he would embrace Islam, especially if he has a sound mentality and goodwill to search for the truth and not a mentally defective person with the intentions of malevolent aims.

Hey Mitchell

the problem with all our religions
is the failure to decipher the facts out of the godgiven scriptures
so it's not really plain transparent coz god is not so stupid to give away a one million dollar puzzle just like that but he does gives us all the common senses we needed.
Else otherwise, it'll just be plain sailing for all of us-so no more fightings and arguments

hence the holy books are really for those with brains-the thinker
in fact in some books, he demands/warns human with the intellect to give it a closer deeper thought of his scriptures or be goddamn

So the facts/truth need to be seek upon even if it'll take to the end of our life

for those who prefer to remain ignorant-they're are just plain followers & believers just like little kids, they see, they do ,or so to speak monkey see, monkey do.
forget about the hardship of having to think-just do it (nike lot)

Give the holy books to your little ones-what do you think they'll do with it?

Are you the one with the brains?

A religion based on facts would not be a religion at all. Not even science is based on facts. Technology it is, and some judicial cases and sentences, but we human beings base our lives (beliefs and disbeliefs included) on hunches, beliefs, unproved claims, and so forth.
Needless to say, my religious beliefs are just that: beliefs.

Every RELIGION is about BELIEF and NOT FACTS(When I say facts I mean facts that should be visible to the NAKED EYE of the believer..Obviously they are not..)...
IF RELIGIONS WERE BASED ON "FACTUAL EVIDENCE" EVERYONE WOULD BELIEF THE "RIGHT RELIGION" as everyone would know the truth
